Rare Early Indian ? Wicker Lloyd Loom Style Basket Work Settee Sofa Or Settle.

This is quite an unusual item that has survived without being broken or eaten away by woodworm. It is very similar in style to a chair my mother had when I was a child which had come back from India in about 1920 when her parents returned from their days of tea planting in Rasidpur. With its brass feet and clever lightweight (under 10kg!) construction you can see exactly how and why the Lusty family became inspired to develop their Lloyd Loom brand of furniture in those far off colonial times. Dimensions of this little settee are in the item specifics but suffice to say that this is suitable for two people who are not too heavy although it is remarkably strong for its very light weight. It has been repainted as you can see and some of that paint does have the chipping shown. The fairly recent upholstery though is pretty good. A lovely decorative little piece of furniture.
