Vintage Elpec England Art Deco Brass Lidded Box with Crinolene Lady Patterns

Length 6.25 inch / 16 cm, Width 6.25 inch / 16 cm (square shape), Height 5 inch 13.25 cm weight 750 gram unpacked

Description: 

An Art Deco Brass Lidded Box by Elpec of Birmingham, England, stamped to Base "Elpec Made in England."  Decorated with repeated patterns of two seated Crinoline Ladies to all sides having tea.  The Top Lid has a different decoration with an older Lady Seated alone having tea outside a house doorway.  Images of all sides shown with the repeated Crinolene lady patterns to all 4 sides. 

This was my Grandmothers, then my Mother's and originally used to store buttons.  Obviously it will have age / usage wear - please zoom in on all images.  Brass externally and on bottom base.  Front has a slight silvery seam line on its left side, as shown Image 6, so probably brass on tin as how many of these were manufactured.  The lid is airtight but there is a slight curve to its lid on one of its sides probably from creation / wear - cannot be seen from frontal view - see Image No 4 of this side view.  Internal usage marks according to age.  Left all the natural patina on the Crinolene ladies as the sides look good with the natural patina.  An internal cloth lining may be nice too inside this box if desired.  It would not look out of place in an Antique Shop window or useful as a box for storing sewing items, etc, as it looks very attractive on display especially with daylight or lamp light shining on it.  I actually saw one in a shop on a BBC TV Antiques show - but I cannot see any other Crinolene Lady Decorated Boxes on sale - rarely seen in this pattern nowadays.  The small brass box seen in images has already sold.  This box displayed looks its best by evening lamp light but that's just my opinion.
