1936 TOOTSIETOY 0119 US ARMY PLANE (WEDELL-WILLIAMS XP-34)

Structurally intact and straight - if missing its 3 propeller blades. Original white rubber tyres.

What initially looks odd for an American military aircraft of the 1930s makes sense when you look at its resemblance to air racing aircraft of the time like the Turner RT-14 Meteor and the Wedell-Williams 44/45 models. It turns out that Wedell-Williams submitted drawings to the United States Army Air Corps for a pre-WW2 fighter aircraft. It got as far as being given the designation XP-34 but never progressed beyond that. How it got as far as Tootsietoy making a model (possibly for purely patriotic PR reasons) - who still alive knows?
