Tootsietoy No 1019 “Jumbo” “Torpedo” Split Window Pickup Truck 1936- 1941 Red

Rare and hard to find. This one is possibly even rarer as there is little to no metal flashing in the gaps around the bumper. The red paint is still beautifully shiny with just some small chips to the roof and minor paint loss on some edges. The original tyres (starting to un-vulcanise) are on cast metal hubs. Tootsietoy simply called it Pickup Truck in their catalogues but because it was much larger than their other toys it picked up the moniker “Jumbo”. Later, in the 1940’s it picked up another moniker - “Torpedo”.

Interesting comparing it with the Metal Masters Company version (an example listed separately) as they are nearly identical with a slightly different front grille moulding and side vents.

It’s 14.5cm long, 4cm wide and 4cm high.
