Motorola Independent Vintage Famous Brick Mobile Phone Rare Collectors Item

Model: Independent

Colour: Grey

Welcome to the Trading Post

Thank you for taking the time to look at this fascinating listing, I am very pleased to offer for sale this exceptionally rare piece of vintage technology, the Motorola Independent, first released in 1992!

Physical condition

The plastic body of the phone is in good condition for its age, showing some light surface scratches and dents and one more noticeable but still small dent near the ear piece at the top. The phone shows some minor discolouration in spots. Please observe the photos carefully as they document fully the cosmetic condition of the body.

To the rear the battery pack again shows some surface scratches and some blue corrosion on the contact points where it once would have rested in it's charging dock. The battery latch is in excellent working order and the battery moves in and out of its slide with a satisfying ease and locks firmly in place. The contacts on the device are in good condition except for the bottom left contact which again, shows some blue corrosion.

The buttons of the phone have gained an orange hue over time which, when researched, appears to be a relatively common feature on this model. The black print on the buttons has faded off almost entirely in places and shows heavy wear.

The label near the mouth piece also shows some fading and wear as is to be expected with age and normal use.

The aerial shows heavy wear and the rubber has cracked completely in two places. The Aerial was at one point wrapped in black insulation tape which still remains.

What a fascinating piece of technology! It is not intended for use as a phone anymore but rather a piece of history for the right collector or a museum.

Thanks again for taking the time to read this listing, please do not hesitate to contact me should you require any more information or photographs of this item

Disclaimer

The phone is in a completely untested state as I do not have the means to test it. The phone is presumed to not work with modern phone networks as it would have been an analogue phone when it was first released.
