This medal was given to members who were involved with activities with the Red Cross in connection to the Russo-Japanese war. These do not come with a ribbon because the Red Cross Society never obtained an Imperial sanction for them so they could not be worn on soldier's uniforms. They were instead kept as a commemorative badges. These are made of copper.
