British Stamps Used Abroad

British stamps were used in various foreign countries and British colonies before such territories had concluded treaties that gave their stamps franking powers outside their own borders. These stamps can be distinguished from ordinary British only by postmark. British offices abroad were opening at various dates between the years 1857 and 1878, and can be conveniently divided into the following seven groups: British Possessions In Europe; The Levant And Egypt; The British West Indies; The South And Central American Republics. Spanish And Danish West Indies; Naval Stations; Army Field Offices; Royal Niger Company.
