The front small dial has spike that fits in outer dial,

tighten rear dial to panel with locknut on resistor, and grooved nut in front.

allow for the whole outer dial to turn.

a small allen key is needed to fix small dial on vr shaft, The lever on the side locks the dial.

The resistor has been tested for linearity 0 to 5K ohm, and works well
