Original WW2 Fire Watcher Enamel Lapel Badge Home Front

Genuine Second World War period badge which was worn by personnel usually while in civilian clothing to show they were helping the war effort by serving as a fire watcher.
After the fire watcher order enacted in September 1940, it was compulsory for commercial and business premisses to have a fire watcher on duty. They were tasked with observing buildings of importance to deal with any incendiary bombs and alerting fire or rescue parties if needed.

The badge is in good condition and made from brass with red enamel paint to the front. Features a flame and eye fire watcher insignia to the top and a horseshoe shaped section to the rear to secure the badge inside a lapel buttonhole.
