First of all it’s safe to say these classic Refractor telescopes don’t come available very often on the preowned market at all now as most individuals intend to keep them due to there superb optical quality.these telescopes were manufactured in Russia back in the 1990s and are amongst the best of that era and still hold there own optically against a moderate ED,APO Refractor telescope today. At a f10 focal ratio and long focal length of approximately 1000mm there should be very little signs of chromatic aberration in comparison to these more run of the mill skywatcher Refractor telescopes and similar brand names with exceptional image contrast and clarity for lunar and planetary observations.overall the condition of the scope is exceptional for its age and only the odd one or two scratches or paint chips remain on the tube and as you can see from the provided pictures the objective lens Doublet is very clean and free! from any anomaly’s,scratches,or blemishes.I have also attached a 210mm in “Length” dovetail bar So is now compatible to any mount that excepts a standard vixen/skywatcher type.the objective lens in cell is the slightly later version of the tal 100R and has been replaced with the RS version which in my opinion does have better reflectivity coatings so on paper so to speak should have ever so slight improved contrast over the slightly older TAL 100R however the tube, internal baffles, and focuser! remains the same. And lastly there are no eyepieces supplied in this listing and would recommend 1.25” eyepieces between the 28mm-6mm range and keep it simple in the optical design as this particular instrument is not intended to be a really wide field telescope.I would also recommend a good quality prism variety type Diagonal to maximise performance as colours will appear more natural looking.
