Scarce early 2 Volume original first edition set of Paul Strand - A Retrospective Monograph.

Two volumes: tan-colored cloth with black lettering over boards, Vol. I: The Years 1915-1946, Vol. II: The Years 1950-1968, both volumes extensively illustrated in black and white with reproductions of Strand's photos. Both volumes have their dust jackets and protective Brodart covers.

Paul Strand, one of the greatest living photographers, was born in New York City in 1890. His work was first shown by Alfred Stieglitz in 1916. This retrospective monograph, published fifty-six years after his first exhibition, includes photographs which have had a profound effect on the photography and art of the twentieth century as well as many photographs never before published.

Both books measure 10 1/2 x 12 1/2 inches. These editions arre in very good to excellent condition. Volume One has a small 1/2 repaired tear at top jacke cover and Volume Two has a repaired 1 1/4 tear at top lright of jacket(see scans). The cover boards and inside pages are in like new condition with no missing or damaged pages and all the inside pages are clean and bright. There are no bookplates and no underlining/highlighting of text or writing in the margins.
