IMC James Bond 007 Base Station Walkie Talkie Set With Morse Code Button In red

Produced around 2008 by IMC Toys based in Barcelona Spain (manufactured in China).

It comes in a black plastic case with two red clasps and a prominent JAMES BOND 007 trademark logo.

The case is in very good condition. Intact, with minimal scratching, it measures 30x26.5x8cm

Open it up and inside there appears to be a laptop computer with realistic looking keys, however it hinges up to reveal two walkie-talkie handsets (HT or Handheld Transceiver if you want to go full Bond). The case is the Base Station and there is a wired microphone handset attached as well as a built-in speaker.

The base station and each handset are powered by 9V (6LR61 or similar) batteries.

On the base station there is a folding broadcast antenna, a grey on/off/volume dial and a grey morse code button. There’s a fitted storage compartment for the wired handset and both walkie-talkie handsets. There’s a green TX (Transmit) LED and a red RX (receive) LED.

The walkie-talkies allow users to talk and broadcast morse code and have two separate buttons for those functions. They also have built-in speakers to relay whatever the other walkie-talkie is generating as well as the base station.

The set has been tested and the base station and both of the walkie-talkie handsets work as they should.

I should further caveat “work as they should” as it is possible to transmit Morse code and speach (although I was more successful picking up the tumble drier). Range and interference is the main issue as there were a lot fewer interfering devices when this was made in 2008.

The earlier 2003 version in blue is also listed.

A new range of James Bond toys will be hitting stores around the world later this year thanks to IMC. The company, founded in 1981 and based in Barcelona, Spain, will produce a series of gadgets and gizmos aimed towards the younger 007 fan in time for "Quantum of Solace" opening in theatres in November. From walkie-talkies to 'night vision' goggles, Bond wannabe's young and old will be able to stock up their own Q-branch - batteries not included.
