Rare Find: 1940’s Parker 51 Demi Pen and Pencil Set with14K gold filled cap (only 2 years in production)

Parker 51 Demi Fountain Pen andPencil Set.  Both with burgundy body and14K gold filled cap.  Fountain pen with originalhooded gold nib. Size appears to be F or M (closer to F in my view).

In 1947 Parker introduced a Demi versionof Parker “51” advertised for women.  The Demi has shorter barrel and aspecially designed Demi cap which has same diameter as regular “51” but of a shorterlength to give the pen a balanced look.  Otherthan that, all other components were identical to a regular “51”.  Demi wasonly in production from 1947-1948, which made it quite rare.

Pen: L: 123mm capped; 133mm posted; 12mmdiameter.

Pencil: 122.4mm; 9.5mm diameter.

Nib: Original hooded gold nib.  F or M size.

Filling: Vacumatic filling system.

Condition:  Excellent untested condition for age. Somegold-fill loss at the edge of the cap of the pen.  See picture for details.  Has a Parker box but the insert of the box ismissing (see picture). 

A rarefind set. Easy to hold; comfortable size and weight.  Especially good for smaller hands.
