Juh, An Incredible Indian, by Dan L. Thrapp. Published by the University of Texas at El Paso, and Texas Western Press; this is the 1992 second edition of the original 1973 book; #39 of the Southwestern Studies series. Paperback; 42 pages including good endnotes; approx. 9” x 6”. Illustrated with photos, sketches, and a map.

Juh was a 19th century Apache chief, and has been overshadowed by his contemporary, the war leader Geronimo. In fact, his leadership in both war and peace was probably much more significant than Geronimo’s—but has not had the same dramatic, headline, and legendary appeal that usually grabs our attention.

This book tells his story. The reference section at the back of the book offers resources for further information and study.
