DAVID
  • Trade Paperback; 63 pages; Size Approx. 5 1/4 X 7 1/2.
  • Published by Good News Publishers, Condensed Christian Books; 1960.

Details: "Firstfruit of deepest Christian experience--our pioneer and pattern 'in the fellowship of His sufferings,' as another 'born out of due time'--This is David.
Noble and pure, yet suffering hatred, loneliness and exile; maligned but merciful; possessing his soul in patience; sunken despairing in darkness, then rising by faith to the Light; hoping against hope; sheperding, first sheep, then a host of exiles, then a nation; human and engulfed in sin, yet repenting at last in great grief; submitting to chastisement as a child; seeing the Temple at sunset--this is David.
Live with him in these pages, from quiet pastureland to stifling cave, then to resplendent throne.  Know David's heart and mind and soul and learn with him to wait on God and for God.  In battle, gird on his Strength; in defeat and despair, learn to retreat to the Refuge of your soul, to hide in the Rock and make Him your fortress.  Dwell in our Saviour's Presence, and so, like David, shall there pour forth a stream of songs from your soul. PAUL
  • Trade Paperback; 64 pages; Size Approx. 5 1/4 X 7 1/2.
  • Published by Good News Publishers, Christian Readers Club, Condensed Christian Books;  1959.
Details: "The author has dedicated this biography that it might 'incite many to follow Paul as he followed Christ; and to yield themselves as he did to God.'
That we might get a picture of Paul's life from within, F. B. Meyer has used the Epistles more than Acts.  In the fast-moving events of his autobiography we see Paul's warm personality evidenced by hot tears when parting with friends, we note his anguish at possibly having to hurt those he admonished.  And though this loving, thoughtful man was without settled dwelling place or cherished family, when he was in bonds they came to him from every quarter, not only to benefit themselves by his wise counsel but to minister to his needs and offer sympathy.
This concentrated account of the great missionary to the Gentiles will inspire Bible lovers to re-read his Epistles with new appreciation."  (from the front of the book)
A fine addition for your bookshelf!

About Us:

Rivendell Antiquarian Books sells used rare, vintage and collectable books predominantly from pre 1970. We have been sellers of antiquarian books for over 20 years, and our experience helps ensure quality descriptions of our rare and collectable books. Be assured that we want your experience with Rivendell Antiquarian Books to be enjoyable and problem free.

We believe that it is a travesty to simply throw away a used book when there is little or nothing wrong with it - we believe in giving each book the chance of finding a new home. We appreciate the impact a good book can have. We know the excitement of a new page turner, or the familiar joy of an old favorite, and we find satisfaction in putting older, and often scarce books in the hands of people who have the same love for old books that we do.

Customer Service:

Rivendell Antiquarian Books is committed to ensuring each customer is entirely satisfied with their puchase and our service. If you have any issues or concerns please contact us and we will be more than happy to help.

Our books have been inspected carefully by hand by experienced book valuers to ensure the condition description is as accurate as possible for this exact copy pictured. If you have questions about the book before or after purchasing, please feel free to contact us!

Packaging:

We take pride in packaging our books for safe delivery, and if you check our feedback, you will see this reflected in the comments of many pleased customers. For nearly all of our books, we use a specially designed boxing system from IPS (Inovative Packaging Solutions) located in York, PA. These media shipping boxes are designed to conform to the size of the book, securing it and preventing it from bumping around during shipping. The end result is a box which provides a double thickness of cardboard covering the front and back of the book; actually almost like a box within a box. The outer layer of cardboard extends beyond the ends of the inner "box" which very efficiently protects the corners of the book from being bumped and damaged by the sometimes rough handling packages receive in transit. In addition we place the book in a plastic bag to help guard against moisture if a package is left out in the elements.

Delivery:

We aim to get all books shipped within 24 hours of order except on weekends. We can't control the delivery time once a book leaves our hands, but most of the time USPS is prompt in delivery, and the expected delivery time given by eBay is usually fairly accurate. Because we use media mail to keep costs down, it does take a little longer for delivery, and occasionally packages get delayed in the mail system. If for some reason your order has not arrived within the expected time frame, please get in contact with us so that we can try to help you.
