Triffids are plants capable of animal-like behavior: they feed on
rotting meat, are able to uproot themselves and move about on their three "legs", possess a deadly whip-like poisonous sting, and appear to communicate with each other. Their origins are unknown, but after an unusual meteor shower renders most people on Earth blind, they escape captivity and begin growing in numbers, becoming bolder and more aggressive every day.
Bill Masen, awakening in a hospital with bandages over his eyes, does his best to find fellow survivors, while trying to avoid roving gangs and the monstrous Triffids.

John Wyndham (1903–1969) was the pen name used by the often post-apocalyptic British science fiction writer John Wyndham Parkes Lucas Beynon Harris. Most of Wyndham's novels have a 1950s English middle-class setting, often with themes of survival, bio-warfare, and mass destruction. He published The Day of the Triffids in 1951. It proved to be an enormous success and established Wyndham as an important exponent of science fiction. ---------- Return Policy---------- |
