Note:

As with all cart systems, including the NES and SNES, the games may sometimes not work when inserted into the machine for the first time.

The trick is to remove and replace the game several times in quick succession by sliding the game in and out rapidly.

This sometimes used to happen even when the games were new - it has something to do with the metal contact on the game and in the machine.

Game contacts are thoroughly cleaned, as are the console contacts before being offered for sale, so there should be no problem here.
