A beautiful LARGE Oval 12 1/2" X 9 1/8" Deep CENTERPIECE TRAY w/Handle from Carl Tielsch, featuring a Hand Painted large FLORAL SPRAY w/GOLD and extensive GOLD highlighting, Circa 1875-1900 from Altwasser, Silesia, Germany

DESCRIPTION:  This superb quality china has colors that are vivid and eye-catching.  This is decorated on a blank of high white fine china with gold trim on the edges and gold outlining on the embossing.  The large floral spray is quite intricate and well painted with white highlighting on the flowers.  The unique shape is reminiscence of a large seashell.

CONDITION:  While this large deep centerpiece is classified as used, its condition is superb.  We can find no chips, nicks, scratches, cracks, hairlines, or repairs.  There appears to be no wear to the gold or colors and no crazing.  We can find no utensil marks on the piece.  Look in the photos to see this.

DIMENSIONS:  The oval deep centerpiece tray has a very irregular shape being 12 1/2" by 9 1/8" with a height of 4 5/8" to the top of the handle.

HISTORY/MARKS:  Carl Tielsch and Gideon von Wallenberg (a banker from Wroclaw) in 1845 founded the porcelain factory C. Tielsch & Co. in Altwasser, Silesia, Germany.  Today this is called Stary Zdroj, a district of Walbrzych, Poland.  In 1861, Tielsch was awarded the title of “Royal Trade Counsellor” to acknowledge his contribution to Silesian industry.  After his death in 1882, he was succeeded by his son, Egmont.  In 1918, C.M. Hutschreuther in Hohenberg acquired the majority of the company’s stock and merged the factory with its company in Hohenberg while continuing to use the C.T. Germany mark.  The Tielsch factory is still producing today and is now called “Fabryka Porcelany Walbrzych S.A.”  The mark on this is the spread winged eagle that was used 1875-1900.  Source: PM&M (porcelainmarksandmore) mark #1-11.  It also has the green overglaze mark that says "Made in Germany" as well as the hand written number in red 10120 & under that the number 55.  There are numerous impressed marks in the porcelain.

As collectors ourselves, we tend to be very picky and find it necessary to point out anything we see.  We believe you will be very satisfied with this decorative deep centerpiece tray.
