A 9 -inch diameter flat wire screen sifter with the black wood handle attached with an ornate attachment. I suppose it was placed over a pail to strain the foreign particles out of some kind of juice or milk. The metal parts are not ferrous (not made of iron or steel). So, under the silvery color is probably brass. Looks circa mid to later 1800's.
