The first edition was printed by Frederick Muller in 1955 - this edition is printed by Shakespeare Head, printed and bound in Great Britain by Jarrold and Sons Ltd, Norwich; I have assumed the same date. Approx 90 pages; 410g.

Book Condition: CC* vintage condition; small new bookplate over p'o's details on inside front cover; paper yellowed with age; board edges show wear with trauma at bottom spine, now repaired with clear bookies tape; last page lightly tanned

*AA down to *BB – cover and pages are mostly clean and unmarked. There may be some minor rubbing or minimal creasing on spine. Binding is tight. No apparent writing or scribbling. Some older books may have page yellowing or browning. Excellent collectable quality.

*CC – cover and pages may have minor marks, blemishes and/or creasing. There may be some rubbing or creasing on spine. All pages are intact and binding is tight. Previous owner’s name or gift inscription may be written and/or covered by bookplate. Some older books may have age yellowing, browning and foxing. Still very good collectable quality.

*DD – visible signs that the book has had good pre-loved life. Cover, pages and spine will have noticeable marks, blemishes and or creasing, including writing on front or back pages. Endpapers may have been removed. Pages may be browned and foxed.

*EE significant visible signs of wear and tear. There may be writing or scribbling within the text. Pages may be loose or torn. Cover, pages and or spine will have major noticeable marks, blemishes and or creasing.

*FF:- There may be missing pages, tears or other significant defects as noted. Binding may be loose or have parts missing. Books are only sold in FF condition due to scarcity or are highly collectable.

Grace Lodge illustrated many Blyton books including A Story Party at Green Hedges and A Picnic Party With Enid Blyton (1949 and 1951, both published by Hodder and Stoughton), The Birthday Kitten (Lutterworth 1958), Just Time for a Story (Macmillan), The Latimer House publication of Tales of Toyland (replaced artwork by Hilda McGavin), Three Boys and a Circus, The Children at Green Meadows, Holiday House, Those Dreadful Children, Will The Fiddler (1960), all of the Latimer House Brer Rabbit books, Bible Stories From the Old Testament (Frederick Muller) and Before I Go to Sleep. She contributed illustrations (along with Hilda Boswell and Kathleen Gell) to Blyton's The Daffodil Story Book (Latimer House) and The Second Holiday Book (Sampson Low), and with various illustrators to non-Blyton works such as Uncle Mac's Own Story Book by Derek McCulloch (Sampson Low), Once Upon a Time (Blackie & Son), Toddles' Happy Book (Collins) and Collins Children's Annual - Eleventh Year (Collins 1925).
