DESCRIPTION
During my last trip to Rome I had the fortune to meet artisan Dino Ciani and to discover his amazing work!
He creates these beautiful watch leather straps, using exclusively vegetable-tanned leather from the Volpi Tannery in Tuscany, Italy (certified by the Vegetable Tanned Leather Consortium).
This ancient tanning process involves the use of vegetable tannins such as those of the chestnut. The leathers subjected to this treatment become incredibly soft and take a unique colour.
Dino also treats them with a special waxing technique that give them the final vintage and worn look.
Each one of them is worked in an original way and that is why it turns out to be a unique piece with unrepeatable colours, shades and details.
Vegetable tanning is a natural manufacturing process with a low environmental impact, thanks to which animal skins are transformed into a material ready to be born to a new life in the hands of the artisan.
