Quite an unusual colouring on this early plate, the usually red or blue border criss - crossing, here is a brown or perhaps black / blue colour. Very fine flower petal shapes in gold.
The art work is beautiful - not difficult to see why someone wanted to save this plate - the colours and fineness of the flowers, buds and leaves is just superb, in that almost enamelled, risen paint.
The central feature is a woven basket of flowers, but the borders are exquisite.
This dish measures approx 22.5cm in diameter.
