Vintage Lux Chilton Tin Wind Up Alarm Clock Mid Century Modern Made USA

Up for bid and for your consideration is a vintage Lux Chilton wind up alarm clock.

This beautiful clock would be at home with your vintage decor or would be a nice addition to any lux clock collection.

The details:

The clock is 4-7/8 inches tall, about 4-5/8 wide and 2-1/4 inches deep at the base.

The case is cream colored painted metal with brass details. The brass trim around the face is applied on to the metal case, the brass on the base are strips that fit into a grove.

The face is printed on heavy paper or paper board and is a gloss cream color with gold numbers and a gold colored dotted chapter ring. The numbers are slightly raised. There looks like there is a little crease on top of the one in the 12. The face also looks like it is warped a bit on the right side but it is not bad and the hands do not rub on the face at all. The face is in nice condition overall.

The hands are brass.

The alarm ring is located under the 12. The face is marked "Lux Chilton" under the hand center post and "The Lux Clock Mfg. Co., Inc. Lebanon, Tenn, U.S.A." under the 6.

The back of the clock is marked: Patent no. 2090370, 172102, The Lux Clock Mfg. Co. Lebanon, Tenn, U.S.A."

I believe this clock is from the early late 50's or early 60's. From what I can find, the Lux clock Manufacturing. Co. was bought by the Robertshaw Controls Company in 1962 and this clock has no reference to Robertshaw on the face or back.

The winders, set knobs, alarm shut off and fast/slow adjustment are located on the back of the clock.

The clock tries to work, it will tick for a few seconds then stop. It is wound tight. The alarm works when you turn the hands to the alarm set time, although it seems to be about 5 minutes off.

The case is in nice condition with slight wear and paint loss commensurate with its age. The biggest spot is on the side of the clock in the 9 position.

This clock would make an interesting addition to any Lux or vintage clock collection. Maybe you know someone who would love this as a gift. Why not bid now?

It's time to clear out some of my "collection", so check out my other auctions! I’m cleaning house and have a lot of different, interesting things up for bid!
