1930s/40s Tootsietoy No.1016 Auburn Roadster Restored & Repainted

Beautiful diecast metal model of an Auburn Speedster 851/852 of 1935/36. First made by Tootsietoy in 1936 and through to 1941 before toy production was stopped due to the war. The model was briefly relaunched in 1946.

Earlier models originally had mono-colour bodies with the interior picked out in a different colour and simple silver detailing. Later models were mono-colour without any detailing.

This appears to be an earlier casting with gaps between the bumpers and body. Hard to tell for sure what the original colour was but there are traces of yellow overspray underneath - which was one of the original colours.

This has been beautifully repainted in a mint green with painted silver details and front and rear lights.

Metal hubs painted dark red with correct type reproduction white rubber tyre and straight axles.

Length: 149mm

Width: 40mm

Height: 35mm

Two advisories:

There is a slight crack in the casting where one of the front axle holders joins the body.

The paint is quite thick so some of the casting detail is not as sharp as it should be.

This really is a beautiful model and the restoration highlights the Art Deco design of the original model.
