F.E. Olds, Los Angeles, Super Recording Cornet - Pre-War - Extremely Rare

This serial number - 8228 - is the second or third earliest serial number that is known for a Super Recording Model cornet.

It is in solid original condition but has had its share of miles (indication, perhaps, that it was well loved).

Metal is good, no signs of buffing; original bell-ring is intact; offset valves, as with the Super Recording and Recording trumpet models; valves look good and seem tight; all slides are moving well. .

Some restoration is needed.  Please note in photos:

• one small patch repair, nicely done
• small creased dent at the bell taper
• the damaged threads of the casing for the 1st valve bottom cap
• the two missing original bottom caps (only one original remains)
• 1st valve repair at end of cylinder - see last 3 photos

There is no mouthpiece or case.
