Precious and rare Alexander-Kins doll. A real treasure!

This stunning 1956 Madame Alexander-Kins bent knee walker doll comes in the original Lia Sargent silver box.  The 8" #621 Bridesmaid doll is featured on Sargent's website in the section titled Hall of Fame. (A snippet of Lia Sargent's bio from the inside cover of the book she authored "Madame Alexander Dolls an American Legend" is shown for informational purposes.)

Cute does not begin to describe this doll since she is beyond adorable!  Her golden blonde shoulder length wig is in the original set and it has short bangs with a tight flip curl along the bottom. The most outstanding feature of her costume is her fascinating and remarkable bandeau.  It is made of a stiff straw band with beautiful flower clusters on each side and a sturdy elastic cord under the chin. This Madame Alexander brochure/catalogue that comes with her reads "Her tiny face is framed by a pink straw bandeau".

Her darling glowing face retains the original bright blushed cheeks and fluttering green sleep eyes. The head-turning walker is smooth and works perfectly. Her stringing is tight, she can stand on her own and her arms stay up when raised. She is near flawless - pristine - if not mint condition!  The only thing I noticed on closeup shots was a very tiny factory paint skip on the edge of one of her tiny eyebrows.  There are no blemishes or scuffs, brightly colored cheeks - just amazing! It's hard to believe this incredible doll was created 68 years ago.

Her brightly tagged sleeveless full length *lavender taffeta formal gown is a wonder to behold!  It's designed with a rolled collar, a long pink silk waist tie that ties in into a pretty bow in the back. Lia Sargent describes the gown as "styled with tucks and trimmed with rosebuds" and indeed there are lovely pink rosebuds attached on each side that gathers up the skirt at the front hem.

Underneath she wears a stiff white petticoat with a double layer of taffeta lace and tulle, white taffeta panties with lace trim and golden slippers that tie.  The dress is described as sky blue in the Madame Alexander catalogue/brochure and Lia described this as aqua pastel, but I see that on Lia's photos it is this same beautiful lavender/periwinkle/iris.. color that it is now.  The color is stable throughout without any evidence of fading or flaw.  There isn't a hint of discoloration.  Some photos with different lighting reflect some glare, but it isn't faded or bleached. This costume and this doll are just magnificent!
This doll has been box stored and never displayed.

She comes with her pristine complete original tagged costume, the silver Lia Sargent box, her original insert booklet titled Dolls are Little People by Madame Alexander that features the Southern Belles and other mid 50's Wendy-Kins dolls in formal attire including this one.  She also comes with the original signature stamped Madame Alexander white plastic stand that was issued with the 1950's 8" Kins dolls.

The top of the silver Lia Sargent box is nice with just a couple of little dents. It's a good sturdy box and it comes with Madame Alexander pink signature tissue paper. The side of the box and bottom have black marker writing that records information about this doll.  There is a small foil address label on the bottom with the former owner's name & her address and written above that foil label are the words "From the estate of" (I will leave the name and address off this listing for privacy sake, but the buyer of this item will have it for provenance) and under the label is written owners date of birth in 1927 and date of death in 2018 and "aged 91" is also there. On one side of the box is written "#13 Hall of Fame".

*The light purple color shade of the bridesmaid gown could also be called periwinkle instead of lavender. However different sources call this color : orchid, lilac, amethyst, iris, and violet.  Your thoughts?

The photos don't do the doll justice. This is an impressive doll -  like new, pristine!
