This is a really lovely quality bangle dating from the mid 19th century and comes by descent from the family of the earls of Liverpool which is why it is engraved with two coronets above a MM and a M. These are located upon the back of the head, beneath the beautifully mounted hair. Condition is really excellent there being just two tiny tiny dents which are so small I could not get the camera to pick them up.

This Victorian gold bangle is centred by the hair set which measures37mm x 32mm and there is a safety chain attached.

59mm by 49mm is the size of this bangle (25.4mm = 1 inch) so do bear size in mind because people were smaller than today if you are wanting to wear it! At 40grams gross weight this is a very substantial piece of jewellery beautifully engineered in unmarked but tested 18ct gold.

It looks as if there is something engraved beneath the initials on the underside of the head but I cannot decipher it. Probably a date or possibly makers or retailers mark.

Anyway, a lovely old piece of mourning jewellery that obviously began life in the very highest echelons of Victorian society.
