The olive green color and side handles were signature aspects of the Oliver typewriters. This particular model, the Oliver Typewriter No. 9 Standard Visible Writer was patented in 1912. It was produced from 1915-1922. It became one of the most popular typewriters of its time due to its unique “visible writer” design, where the typist could see the words as they were being typed, unlike earlier typewriters where the type bars struck the paper from behind. This particular typewriter unfortunately does NOT type. It is still a beautiful historical treasure.
