You are looking at a vintage 1987 Electro Voice model DS-35 dynamic cardioid microphone that comes with an original E.V 312 model mic clip, data sheet and vintage E.V mic case. This rugged classic microphone was made by E.V in the U.S.A for 20 + years before being discontinued and was a high quality model used for several applications.
Pic # 2 is from a data sheet I have showing the mics basic specs and characteristics.
Pic # 3 is the actual data sheet you'll be getting with tons of technical info on this microphone. I have been told by several singers who have used both the RE-16 and DS-35 that they actually prefer the sound of the DS-35 better. The DS-35 has a flatter response than the RE-16. The DS-35 has a tone very similar to a ribbon mic. This is a great mic for toms / drums as well.
The E.V DS-35 is a light weight microphone set at 150 OHMS (Medium to Low impedance) and it has a smooth, warm tone that's excellent for broadcasting and singing. This was basically an RE-16 model mic without the bass adjustment lever and again, flatter response.
It's also uni-directional picking up only your voice directly in front of the screen and cancelling out unwanted background noise. The DS-35 is one of the better uni-directional mics I have personally heard.
It has a stronger signal when using the cable with the male 1/4 inch. The XLR to XLR cables just don't work as good. Nothing some good gain won't solve though if you have some good audio equipment. Again, it has a much stronger signal when used with a 1/4 inch cable.I don't know the first year this was introduced but it seems to have started production in the late 1970's to the early 2000's before being discontinued.
The chrome screen is very nice with no dents or tarnish. The painted body shows extremely lite wear. Zero paint chips, dents or fractures. The E.V label looks excellent and completely legible.
It should be noted that this mic has the new upper and lower inner liners. These inner foam screens greatly help with the acoustics of the mic as well as keeping the lower screen steady. The foam is in great shape and will last for several decades to come. The foam / pop filter cuts down any unwanted feedback due to wind or breathing. The foam needs to be replaced on all of these older DS-35 mics so keep that in mind if you buy another example from another buyer.
The mic measures 7 1/2 inches long and 1 3/4 wide at the screen. Very light and versatile.
I'd give the mic a solid 9 physically on a scale of 1 - 10. The real beauty is that sound it produces. The mic takes a standard XLR cable which is not included. As with all my vintage microphones...
