For sale today are three rare and out-of-print (oop) Dark Horse Comics trade paperback (tpb)/graphic novels from the Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi Collections by Tom Veitch and Christian Gossett, and later Kevin J. Anderson, all published in 1996. 



***Volume 1: (Later printings titled it -) Knights of the Old Republic
  • Collects Star Wars Tales of the Jedi (1993) #1-5. Written by Tom Veitch. Art by Chris Gossett, Mike Barreiro, Janine Johnston, and David Roach.

***Volume 2: Dark Lords of the Sith
  • Collects Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi Dark Lords of the Sith (1994) #1-6.
    Written by Tom Veitch and Kevin J. Anderson. Art by Christian Gossett, Art Wetherell, Mike Barreiro, and Jordi Ensign. Cover by Hugh Fleming.

    In the depths of galactic space, a foolish and arrogant young Jedi awakens an ancient, deadly power. This seductive evil will lead him down a path that will make him a Dark Lord of the Sith, and his darkling power will make the very galaxies tremble. Tom Veitch (Star Wars: Dark Empire I & II) and Kevin J. The tale ties in closely with current Star Wars novelization continuity and actually introduces a character from the hit Star Wars: Jedi Academy novels.

But it is not the Force one must control to become a Jedi; rather, one must learn to control oneself. Ulic Qel-Droma has tasted power, and now he cannot fight the dark hunger inside him. 




I am not a comics grader, but I try to be as thorough as possible when assessing books for any flaws. I don't believe in using a number grade system - to me they are mostly utilized as a method to be ambiguous about exact condition and/or individual imperfections - but I do attempt to describe anything other than minor cover shelf-scuffing/scratching in detail. If a certain flaw discussed below does not mention that it affects inside pages, then it does not.

These novels are in varied overall conditions, but all are in good reading condition with solid spines and great/bright inside pages (photo#18 examples). They do each have some signs of wear including some outer corner creases and some cover indents, although a majority of the flaws are lighter in severity and affect the books' externals. Due to eBay's photo limit, with lots involving multiple books, I am not able to show the detailed looks I try to maintain, so if you would like any extra photos of a specific description/book, feel free to let me know! The TL;DR versions of each book's condition below is in blue italics, with the more in-depth collectors' paragraphs below them.

***Vol 1: Good overall condition, decent external - solid spine and great/bright overall inside pages with no signs of natural yellowing. Some signs of wear to its externals, including some cover creases and smaller outer corner creases, although most of the wear is lighter and affecting its externals. USC and LSC have light scuffing/color breaking around them. LSC has an additional small ding/indent at/around where it meets the back cover. Spine edge has three light ~2" depressions one each adjacent cover near their middles (photo#10 w/illumination). Front and back covers' top and bottom edges have some light levels of shelf-scuffing/wear along them. Additional light ~3/4" adjacent cover indent on the front's top edge towards the FTOC, additional small scuff/indent on the back's top towards the USC, and an additional light ~1/2" adjacent cover crease on the back's bottom near its middle. FTOC has a tiny crease/scuff/bend, goes thru ~10 pages as an indent, and ~1/4 as a light bend. BTOC has a light ~1/2" crease around it, goes thru ~5 pages as a light indent. Small crease/scuff/bend, goes thru ~10 pages as a tiny indent, and most as a light bend. FBOC and BBOC possess small/light creases/scuffs/bends, they go thru ~1/3 pages each as light bends. Front cover has a ~3/4" crease/depression near its center (photo#11 w/illumination), shows on ~1/4 pages as a small/light indent. Two nearby small/light creases/depressions. Small indent/depression near top edge. Light ~1/2" discoloration patch on title. A few tiny indents/scratches and a light ~1" depression near LSC. Back cover has two ~3/4" and three nearby ~1/2" creases/depressions around its center (photo#12 w/illumination), they show as small/light indents on ~15 pages. Light diagonal ~3" scratch/indent at cover's upper half. One page about ~1/3 of the way in has a light vertical indent spanning its height near the page edge.


***Vol 2: Good overall condition - solid spine and great/bright overall inside pages with no signs of natural yellowing. Some signs of wear to its externals, including some cover creases and smaller outer corner creases, although most of the wear is lighter and affecting its externals. USC and LSC have light scuffing/color breaking around them. LSC has an additional small ding/indent at/around where it meets the front cover. Spine edge has an indent/ding near its middle, shows on the adjacent back cover as a small indent. Front and back covers' top and bottom edges have some light levels of shelf-scuffing/wear along them. Additional 2 small scuffs/indents on the back's top around its middle, and 3 around the back's bottom edge. FTOC has a small crease/light ~1.5" indent/bend around it. Small crease/scuff/bend at extreme corner, goes thru ~10 pages as a light indent, and ~1/2 as a bend. FBOC has a small crease/scuff/bend, goes thru ~1/5 pages as a light bend. BTOC and BBOC possess small scuffs/bends/cover color breaks, they go thru ~1/2 pages each as light bends. Front cover has two attached ~1/2" indents/depressions near the page edge's middle (photo#11 w/illumination). ~2"x~1" patch of light scratches/indents on the title near the USC. Back cover has six ~1/2" light indents/depressions around its center (photo#13 w/illumination), two more ~1" ones near spine edge's middle. ~1" crease/depression and ~1" indent/depression near bottom edge (photo#14 w/illumination)

***Vol 3: Decent external but good overall condition - solid spine and great/bright overall inside pages with no signs of natural yellowing. Some signs of wear to its externals, including 1 moderate outer corner crease and smaller cover indents, although most of the wear is lighter and affecting its externals - including the larger crease. USC and LSC have light scuffing/color breaking around them. LSC has a small vertical tear where it meets the front cover, and a small ding/~1/2" crease at/around where it meets on the back cover. Spine edge has ~4 tiny scratches/color breaks around its middle. Front and back covers' top and bottom edges have some light levels of shelf-scuffing/wear along them. Additional small scuff/indent and light adjacent ~3/4" cover indent towards spine corner on front's top edge. Additional ~1" patch of tiny scuffs/indents on back's bottom edge near its middle. FTOC and BTOC possess small crease-web/scuffs/bends, they go thru ~20 pages each as light indents, and ~1/2 pages each as bends. Back's goes thru ~5 pages as tiny corner folds. Book's main flaw is a ~3" crease around the FBOC, thankfully does not show on pages, but does on the BBOC as a ~2" crease. FBOC has additional ~1.5" crease around it. Small crease/scuff/bend/cover peel at extreme corner, goes thru most pages as a light bend, and onto the BBOC as a small crease/scuff/bend. Front cover has 3 small/light indents/depressions near page edge's middle. Back cover has 3 in a similar location, as well as five ~1/2" light creases/indents/depressions around the cover's upper half (photos#15, 16 w/illumination). Three light ~1/2" indents and a light ~1/2" scratch around spine edge (photo#17 w/illumination). Another similar scratch near page edge's middle.
