Karajan's only complete collection of Tchaikovsky symphonies, recorded with the Berlin Philharmonic in the 1970s. The latter three songs were recorded multiple times, but this recording from the 1970s, when the orchestra and Karajan were in their golden age, overwhelms the listener with its rich sound and flowing music. On the other hand, the three songs from the first period are Karajan's only recordings, but they are as fulfilling as the latter, and are excellent performances that perfectly express the characteristics of each work.
