Content introduction

The 10th release of the ultimate SA-CD hybrid collection
The best masterpiece by a historical quartet that opened a new door in the history of string quartets in the 20th century.
The Budapest String Quartet (BSQ), formed in 1917 by members of the Budapest State Opera Orchestra, performed unique performances for exactly half a century until it went on hiatus in 1967. After changing members many times, the band was finally composed of four Russian Jews, and from the 1940s onwards it transformed into an international quartet based in the United States.
This complete Beethoven collection, recorded from 1958 to 1961, is BSQ's third recording after two recordings from SP to monaural, and the only recording in stereo. The ultimate version of one of Beethoven's string quartets is presented by one of the most famous quartets of the 20th century. While wonderfully expressing Beethoven's exquisite sound structure, it also reveals the essence of rich music and willpower, and the very pinnacle of Beethoven's performance is recorded here. Almost 40 years after its first CD release, the clear sound recorded at Columbia 30th Street Studio is revived with the latest remaster from the original analog master.
