Here we have the very reluctant sale of my 1972 vanden plas princess 1300. selling only due to lack of use, owned by me for 31 years. originally an automatic, when the box developed a serious fault this was replaced with the engine and gearbox from a '68 mg1300. a quick google of the 12H/199 engine code reveals "12H means 1275cc transverse
199 means Td+Ub+SF+Xe
Td means twin carburettors
Ub means Lucas C40 22 amp dynamo (replaced with alternator)
Sf means carburettor crankcase ventilation
Xe means close ratio remote type 4 synchromesh gearbox."
with this being the "11 stud head" version fitted to the mg, riley and 1300gt producing 70 bhp fitted from new with the 12G1805 big valve cylinder head shared with the mk3 mini cooper s. (currently fitted with single valve springs but i have a set of doubles as originally fitted which i was going to fit when doing an unleaded conversion but never got round to) engine runs very well with good oil pressure. the car is in very very good condition originally restored using mainly genuine leyland panels between '92>'98 and was painted in the original harvest gold. this was changed to british leyland midnight blue in 2009 after being bare metalled and is still nice having been re done 4 years ago. mint underbody/ subframes, as seen in the pics the floor is perfect under the carpet still painted in the original colour. brakes and suspension been gone through. pertronix ignitor electronic ignition, just had new numax battery fitted, mot and tax exempt. only real body flaw is silicone contamination in the bonnet paint but unnoticeable from a few feet away (couldn't get a clear pic unfortunately) all chrome work is presentable with correct and unique rear overiders , drivers window is scratched. interior is mainly good couple of small nicks in the seats easily repaired, headlining at the rear on both sides has had new sections patched in and dash wood not perfect, these were all areas i was going to improve on over time but they never particularly bothered me too much. i've just renewed the insurance for £42 for the year (1,000 miles) to sum up a very nice car in need of a few small non urgent jobs to tackle over the summer or enjoy as is. bear in mind the car is 52 years old on may 1st and sold as seen so viewing recommended. if interested please call 07354587379 (serious enquiries only please). located 10 mins from east midlands airport DE74 area ,£9,500. payment by bank transfer preferred and the car and log book won't be released until funds have cleared, not interested in p/x's thanks unable to add video due to size so added a walk around video on youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1P8NCFNb8Qc
