Here is a fifteen-piece collection of Art Deco "Hygienic Steel" tableware. Part of the "ENCORE" line manufactured in Sheffield, England, by Thomas Turner & Co. "Cutlers to his Majesty" - which I assume refers to King George V - grandfather of the late queen - who reigned from 1910 to 1936. Judging from the font, these pieces appear to date from the 1920s. I acquired them from a couple who were married in 1920, so they may well have been a wedding present. Perfect for your Downton Abbey- or Agatha Christie-themed dinner party.

The lot includes:

4 DESSERT KNIVES
- each has a 5-inch blade and is 8.5-inches over all

8 TABLE KNIVES
- each has a 6-inch blade and is 9.75-inches over all

3-PIECE CARVING SET
- carving knife has a 9-inch blade and is 13.5-inches over all
- carving fork features a levered guard and is 9.75-inches over all
- honing steel has an 8-inch rod and is 12-inches over all

All have celluloid handles.

CONDITION:

The handles have myriad little nicks, dents, and scratches and are varying shades of cream/yellow.
The blades have many little scuffs and scratches and some scattered pitting consistent with age - also there are some small rust spots here and there on the table knife blades despite being "hygienic" - aka stainless steel.
The handle of one of the dessert knives has a depression in it - see photo - possibly from a burn.

Otherwise, they're in handsome shape.
