You are looking at a nice 1950's era Shure Brothers S-38 model microphone desk stand with a 3 inch chrome riser that will compliment any older screw on type mic you have as well as all mic clips. You'll notice right away that this 3 inch detachable riser can be quickly removed depending on your needs. 

 The S-38 model was a fairly common desk stand sold by Shure from the late 1950's to 1970's and could be used with smaller to medium sized mics but not ideal for larger sized microphones. The S-38 is a lite weight design with a low center of gravity and a classic modern look that really compliments any mic you mount on top.

 Pic # 2 shows this very model form a 1950's catalog I have. The S-38 was an all aluminum body being virtually corrosion proof and comes with a beautiful silver painted finish. 

 This particular S-38 stand has very lite wear as seen in the pics provided. No dents or corrosion. Virtually no imperfections on the base. It has been refinished and comes in a silver paint scheme that is virtually identical to the original. The 3 rubber pads are still present and in excellent condition. I'd rate the true condition a 9 on a scale of 1 - 10. 

 This S-38 is appx 4 inches tall X 4 1/4 inches wide.

 You can always remove the 3 inch riser if you don't want it on the base. You'll be able to mount a mic clip directly to the base or on top of the riser.

 I mounted a 1940's era Universal brand D20H mic on top to give you an idea of how it looks with a medium sized mic. This is the only S-38 model stand I currently have.
