USAir had originally scheduled its inaugural service to Paris, its third European destination, for May 2, 1991. Citing the poor outlook for transatlantic travel, USAir postponed that service until January 7, 1992. Philatelic treatment was requested and cachets were applied by both Philadelphia offices.

Boeing 767-200ER jets were used on the inaugural flights.

On February 14, 2013, US Airways Group and AMR Corporation announced that the two companies would merge to form the largest airline in the world. The combined airline carries the American Airlines name.
