This a RARE Antique Art Nouveau Figural Lady Match Safe Vesta Case

Outstanding, match safe featuring beautifully detailed relief images of a lady and a man running from a storm.

Both side of match safe are in great condition, Bottom has a striker. Great condition!

The scene depicted on this match safe is based on The Storm (La Tempête), a painting by French artist Pierre Auguste Cot, completed in 1880. Currently on display at New York City's Metropolitan Museum of Art, it was commissioned from the artist in 1880 by Catharine Lorillard Wolfe under the guidance of her cousin John Wolfe, one of Cot's principal patrons.
