VINTAGE COFFEE TABLE BOOK - OVER 130 INCREDIBLE CARS!

Classic cars come in all forms and from all nations. Sports cars, tourers, saloons from America, Britain, France, Germany, and Japan are all included in the pages of this informative book. Today's 'classic car' is generally accepted to be a post-war car, which is probably obsolete, and has enough enthusiasts to form an appreciation society - the classic car club.

Value has no significance within the clubs. You can enjoy your classic car just as much whether it costs a modest sum or a small fortune, whether you have restored it lovingly yourself or paid one of the large industry of specialists to do it for you.

This book covers the whole spectrum, from the affordable to the aspirational, from the Ford to the Ferrari.

Within each chapter, three models from a single marque are depicted with full-color pictures by top motoring photographers. Each car is described in fascinating detail, and features a specification panel. There are over 130 cars for you to savor and perhaps eventually to buy - so that you, too, can join the classic movement.

From AC to TVR, through MG, and Maserati, Lotus, and Lamborghini you will enjoy the histories of the classic marques and select your own favorites in this armchair classic car show.

Classic is one of those terms that every like-minded enthusiast understands but few can define to the satisfaction of all. In broad terms it seems to apply to any obsolete car for which there are sufficient enthusiasts to form a car club, but the ability of a handful of cars to survive the ravages of time and rust should not automatically make them classics; if they were regarded as unimpressive in their day, they don't get better. So today's classic car should have been at least a little out of the ordinary in its day, even if it's only the top of an otherwise mundane range - the Cortina GT might qualify but everyman's Cortina 1200 shouldn't.

Outside the USA, Classic has become the catch-all term for anything that seems to be old and well looked after, and it also embraces periods for which there are established definitions. Within the USA there is a nation-wide Classic Car Club which caters for carefully selected grander cars from the 1925-42 period plus a few younger ones of particular merit. Around most of the rest of the world the definitions have stemmed from the great British obsession with the older car - the International body FIVA has endorsed their years …
