An original 1914-15 Star awarded to 14645 Pte C H Chamberlain of the Coldstream Guards.

Charles Henry Chamberlain was born in Lowestoft, Suffolk. On the 1911 census he was a crew member onboard the SS Jeanie Hope. By 1914 he was a Seaman living in Great Yarmouth. He enlisted into the Coldstream Guards at the start of January 1915, aged 37. After completing his basic training at the Guards Depot in Caterham, he was posted to the 4th Battalion Coldstream Guards (Guards Pioneer Battalion) in July 1915. The following month he arrived on the Western Front with the British Expeditionary Force. After the was he returned to sea, as can be seen by his MerchNt Seaman card in the photos (including a photograph of Charles!).

Plenty of scope for further research.

Sadly the medal has suffered some damage, and one of the points of the star is bent. Please see photos for damage and overall condition.
