For your consideration
is a rare Vox
AC50 super
twin 2X12 cabinet. The big brother of the Vox AC30, the Vox AC50 was designed
with one thing in mind – to be heard over the screaming fans of John, Paul,
George and Ringo at the height of Beatlemania. Many photographs of the Beatles
show the AC50 on stage.
This cab is a post-1965
“large box” model with a circular ("doughnut") Amphenol XLR connector,
a Goodmans Midax horn, and two 15ohm 122/17 speakers Fane made for JMI. The
cab is in very good overall condition for its age. There are two around 2.5
inches long rips in the grill cloth along with other wears and tears in tolex.
Handle is missing. There are screws holes on both sides for mounting the cab on
a swivel trolley.
The original
individual-letter Vox logo was long gone before I got the cab. Previous owner
installed a removable, one-piece logo instead (please refer to the last
picture). Replica of the original logo can be found online.
Input impedance
is 8 ohms. I use a custom-made three feet speaker cable to connect the cab to amps
with standard ¼ output jack. The cable is made from heavy gauge Monster XP
high-resolution speaker wire. I will include the cable with the sale.
I play Vox AC15 and V125 head (also up for sale) thru this cab in my studio. It sounds wonderful, delivers huge, authentic Vox tone. Sad to see it go but I am moving to smaller amps.
