This antique mother of pearl pincushion is round and nicely hand engraved on both sides with a pinwheel border around a sun burst motif. It has a cream silk cushion stuck with some old steel pins. This type of pincushion allowed the pins to be pushed flat into the silk "sandwich" around the cushion's edges so that it could be dropped into a silk work bag without snagging other items. 

The condition of the mother of pearl is excellent with no chips, cracks or other damage. The cushion is intact and the mother of pearl is very luminous. It measures 1 1/4" in diameter.
