A vintage Chinese horse head pipe (no damper) with a perforated shallow bowl and air chamber below.
Ornate decoration with brown and black glaze/ lacquer finish.
I am undecided about the material it is made from, when tapped it sounds like porcelain or china,
in a couple of places where it is rubbed from use it is white.
There are no maker’s marks, but on one of the decorative side panels there are some Chinese characters.
I do not know how old it is.
It measures approximately 12cms at the longest point x 7.5cm deep from the horses ear to the bottom.
From the top of the perforated bowl down it measures approximately 4cm deep.
The bowl opening is approximately 1.5cm wide and has an air/ smoke chamber beneath it.
Condition: it has been smoked: chip to horse’s ear and forelock: small chip on the lip:
rubs to the sides where the pipe has been held – please see all the photos.
Thank you for viewing my listing.
