USS Stethem is the 13th ship of the DDG Arleigh Burke-class Aegis Destroyer program and built by Ingalls Shipbuilding in Pascagoula, Mississippi. Construction of Stethem began at Ingalls on May 18, 1992 and she was commissioned on October 25, 1995. The USS Stethem is named after Steelworker 2nd class Robert Stethem who was a Navy sailor killed by in Lebanon in the 1980’s. The nickname of the ship is “the Steel Worker”

Artist Statement


My painting technique incorporates “old skool” mechanical and civil drafting techniques including ruling pens, Leroy, inking the drawing and then completing it using watercolors, acrylics and gouache. Originals and prints of my watercolors are now part of private collections throughout the United States, and foreign countries.
