Indian Rosewood bridge blank for steel string guitars - Excellent quality Rosewood, straight grained with even colour.
Minimum Dimensions - 42mm x 10mm x 165mm (1 11/16" x 3/8" x 6 1/2")
Quality - While other timbers such as Brazilian Rosewood have decreased
in quality due to dwindling supply, Indian Rosewood is still available
in fine quality quartersawn stock which is stable, easy to use, looks
great and isn't likely to crack.
Look - Most pieces are dark brown, though the colours can range from
mauve to nearly black. Grain lines are generally straight. Please
specify if you would like a particularly light or dark piece.
Price - Generally slightly less expensive than Ebony.
Availability/Renewability - There are no embargos or restrictions on
this timber meaning it is usually not hard to get. It is also a fairly
ecologically sound material as rosewood trees are grown in India shade
trees for tea plantations, not in natural rainforests like most other
exotic hardwoods.
