This EXTRAORDINARY & VERY VERY BEAUTIFUL fine woollen kilt was handmade for me by WM Christie in Sydney Australia around 1980
I was 9 and was taking Scottish and highland dancing classes and would regularly be involved in large scale performances
That was 43 years ago !!!!
This was the second kilt handmade fir me by Christie’s the other one was lighter so I wore it for performing
This one was NEVER WORN
It has been carefully stored by my Mum and I found it in her house after clearing her many many treasures after she sadly passed away last month
This kilt is immaculate and extremely valuable, the tartan is rare and very chic , coral red with olive green and cream checks
There is a monumental amount of fine woven wool woven in Scotland making up this gorgeous pieces
The hemline is about 5” in turn up as Mum asked them to make it so it could be adjusted as I grew taller etc
Completely wrap around in the traditional style with a small piece of Velcro inside and 2 traditional black leather buckling straps
Pleats galore! The most fantastic weight and movement and all done by hand !!
I believe this vintage masterpiece was around $450 in 1980 which was an absolute fortune back then but worth every cent when you see the impeccable quality of the craftsmanship and the astonishing attention to detail in the design
It is a small size but easily adjustable

Pleats are 7cm deep and there are dozens of them !!
This provides weight and movement when dancing
