Denby Arabesque was discontinued in 1984 after being introduced in 1963. It is one of the most recognisable and collected tableware collections from 1960s.

The history of Denby's Arabesque pattern centres around its designer, the exceptional Gill Pemberton, who took inspiration from a trip to Russia. The original name for the collection was Samarkand, but it was later changed to Arabesque to avoid confusion with similar collections from other manufacturers. The hand-painted Arabesque design has become so iconic that it features in the V&A Museum collection and is described as 'dark brown semi-matt glaze with brown, yellow, and red enamels, and with a painted Arabesque pattern of circles and a daisy in the centre.'
