1955 Maclean Featherweight Touring Frame (Frame Number KC846) - Reynolds 531 with Nervex Professional Lugwork

I bought the frame a few years ago from a collector with the aim of building it up and riding it as a practical tourer/audax bike rather than a museum piece.  I've refined it over the years and have enjoyed owning and riding it, but now I need to downsize my collection and it's time to see this one go to a good home.

Rebuilt with modern components throughout to provide a practical, low maintenance touring/audax bike echoing the original hub geared tourer design.

A Shimano Alfine 8 speed hub and Shimano Dynamo hub have been laced to Schumann 700c 36 hole alloy rims, tyres are Clement USH 700x32c.

The bike has been fitted with a rugged Stronglight Track 2000 chainset and new KMC X101 Track Chain to provide the option for single speed/fixed riding.

A Nitto adjustable quill handlebar stem is paired with the original GB Maes randonneur handlebars which are fitted with Tektro hooded brake levers and a Jtek 8 Speed bar end gear shifter.

The full leather Selle Italia "Mitica" saddle provides a comfortable perch for long distance riding, with the MKS Sylvan touring pedals and full aluminum mudguards completing the classic look.

The Busch and Muller Cyo Premium dynamo powered front light and battery powered rear light are fitted to the frame's original braze-on mountings and a traditional Lion Bellworks Brass Bell provides effective early warning of the approach of this silent running bike!
