I gather Richards of Sheffield was the brand for serious dressmakers.

Dare I say when these were de rigeur, life and circumstances were very different from today. I even recall curtains 'disappearing' to reappear in a few hours as a stunning evening outfit. It was what was done!

This pair, one which I call 'normal' and the other Pinking, have been much used and loved up to about 30 years ago. Left in Mother's sewing cabinet until I have had do serious tidying and decluttering. As there is extremely little chance of me making use of them, here they are. Despite what to me is normal  'wear and tear' - the brand stamps are, especially on the plain pair, a bit rubbed, these are in good condition.

It just seems sensible to look for a new lease of life and use for them.
