This is an antique spelter statue of a young man hunter  holding a rifle with his right hand and a  game hare with his raised left arm. His high spirits are well portrayed  by the artist in his gait and smiling face. The statue with base  is 14 3/4" tall, the base is 5 3/4" diameter. It is over 3 lbs. in weight. Likely from the 20's, the statue is painted green, the face is  bronze tone. Signed on the "rock" George Omerth; original copper label tacked in front of  base reads "CHASSEUR Par G. Omerth". The statue is in  very good antique condition. No loose or missing parts; no cracks. While several  samples of the sculptor's work is available for view on line, this particular item appear to be uncommon. Great patina of age.
George Omerth, according to internet sources, was productive in the years 1895-1925. He is regarded among noted and highly collectible  Art Deco artists as F Preiss & D Chiparus.
