Original BBC TV costume from the BBC Shakespeare, a jerkin or doublet and matching breeches / pants in a dark red-black 'shot silk' effect colour with black trim, a bit Blackadder/gothic in style, made by costumiers Theatre of the Primitive Future who I think also did SF film and TV costumes, and it would be good for theatre, LARP, re-enactment etc.. Size man's small to medium I think, and might also suit a woman wearer though it does not have much room for a bust. The shot-silk effect fabric looks tonally different in different light levels, as the red comes through more in a stronger light - I will try to get a photo of it in sunlight if I can.

JACKET: It's not boned and the fabric is quite flexible. The back is pouchy to allow movement. I've added drawings showing the measurements in inches. Measured from the outside, it's 19 inches pit to pit across the front, slightly more pouchy art the back so I'd say chest around 38 or 39 inches, waist 30 to 32 inches, sleeve 24 inches shoulder to cuff measured on the top side, 18 inches ,measured along the inner seam from the armpit to cuff. Bidy 16.5 inches base of collar at nech to waist, with another 6 inches of skirt and a bit more at the top for the collar.  More detail, see drawings.

It's in very good, very usable condition. There's a very small hole at the back near the side at the waist, and a pinhole sized hole near one of the cuffs, see photos, and a bit of loose stitching inside in the black fabric lining around the armholes.

BREECHES - I have just found the matching breeches (knee length). Please note thee is an area of vintage moth damage (or filming damage) to the rear of one of the legs. See photo.

I'm not sure of value but I'm open to offers.

Please note it is shaped for a male but I am displaying it on a size 16 curvy female mannequin, which is too big for it but does help show the shape, as I do not have a male one.

I'm selling other BBC items so please see other listings if interested, They were bought from the BBC costume sale at Bonhams auction house, London in the early 1990s.
